Roadshows

As part of our what not to waste project, environmental charity Waste Watch are delivering 8 roadshows across York and North Yorkshire to promote the national love food hate waste campaign. The love food hate waste aims to raise awareness about the astonishing levels of food waste around the UK, and to provide help and advice on simple steps we can take to combat the problem, which has a significant environmental impact.
Through interactive and exciting activities, staff will be available to speak to residents about reducing, reusing and recycling their food waste at home.
Tips include storing food properly, learning about ‘use by’ and ‘best before’ dates, understanding portion sizes (to prevent cooking too much rice, pasta and so on), planning for meals and finding tasty ways to use up leftovers.

ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY?

Come and participate in our ‘Wheel of Food Fortune’ and you can win any of the alternatives to recycle food and garden waste at home (see the Composting section of this website for more info about them).

We are also giving freebies that will help you save money on food bills at home. What would you like? Here you have John Sutcliffe in Settle giving away:

  • Fridge thermometers
  • Food clips
  • Tea towels
