Choose2Reuse

The Choose2Reuse campaign promotes reuse as a way of saving money and the environment.

Why should I reuse more?

By reusing items there is no need for additional manufacture or transportation.  It therefore saves energy and protects valuable resources going to landfill.  It can also save people money as pre-owned items are usually cheaper.

The York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership works with other organisations, including charity shops, reuse organisations, schools, colleges, designers, crafts people and businesses to promote alternative ways of reusing items to stop them becoming waste.

You can do your bit by:

  • donating or selling pre-owned goods
  • buying pre-owned goods
  • mending furniture, clothes and other items to prolong their life
  • volunteering in 'reuse' activities
  • using recycled or vintage materials to create something new and unique
  • swapping clothes with your friends or work colleague
  • undertaking maintenance on electrical items to avoid them breaking

Use the Reuse directory to find your nearest charity shop or reuse organisation and to check what items they accept.
